I came across this little ditty in my Pocatello Idaho hometown newspaper:

With last November’s election results still smarting, Idaho Republican leaders admonished party loyalists to look to the future at the Lincoln Day Celebration at the Red Lion Hotel Friday night. U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson, U.S. Sens. Larry Craig and Mike Crapo, and Lt. Gov. Jim Risch were among the politicians who appeared to garnish support for conservative causes.
The celebration consisted of a dinner, an auction to raise money for the local GOP, and addresses from important politicians.

The entrance fee was $9.11 per person to remind participants of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Steve Brown, the chairman of the Bannock County Republicans, said he wanted the meeting to be less formal this year so that average citizens had a chance to mingle with elected officials.
“I think it offers the average person an opportunity to do something they don’t normally do—directly communicate with the people they’ve elected to represent them,” Brown said.

Because as non-Sheeple know - all the Repblicans are left with is: 9/11 9/11 9/11 - boo - be scared, be very very scared -- and it is begining to wear very thin in the minds of non-Sheeple but not in one of the largest Sheeple strangleholds - Idaho. Hey I've got news for you Idaho Republicans - Iraq and 9/11 no connection!

Just How Unfunny Are Right Wingers?

I haven't yet seen FOX's supposed lame attempt at a Daily Show rip-off so I hesitate to be too critical. Unlike Sheeple I generally watch something before I make too much critical comment. The general consensus in the liberal-sphere is that the show is filled with mean-spiritedness, and clichés. I have attempted to watch FOX's late night hate fest "Red Eye" and what is striking is just how unfunny Conservatives really are. I guess that when you are filled with hate and meanness, humor is a real stretch for you. My old hometown newspaper in Idaho carries the Sheeple comic strip Mallard Fillmore, and I read it daily just to see how unfunny it possibly can be. In reality I have rarely found it even the least bit funny. Here is today's prime example:

Wow - get it - liberals don't have jobs - what a laugh riot - how f-ing creative and funny is this? I think it is very telling just how unfunny these mean, hate filled Sheeple are! I can just imagine some knuckle-dragging Sheeple busting a gut at this pathetic stab at comedy, how sad, but how very very telling.

Why I didn't vote for my Democratic Congressman and Senator – today!

I just love the feeling and rush of exercising my right to vote. I always take a few moments to savor the moment. However, it isn't the same feeling with all of the new suspicious technology. There was always something satisfying about slipping your PAPER ballot through the slot as opposed to sticking it through an electronic scantron as we do here in La Crosse Wisconsin. However, my voting high was somewhat muted today because I could not bring myself to vote for my Democratic Congressman Ron Kind, or one of my Senators Herb Kohl. Now granted neither one had a chance of losing, and trust me I didn't vote for the Republican/Sheeple opposition. In the case of Kind I wrote in Mark Twain (a well-connected liberal Democrat told me that he knew of a number of liberal Democrats who did that two years ago because of their dissatisfaction with Kind). Instead of voting for Kohl I did have the option of voting for the Green Party candidate, who I know absolutely nothing about, but we do need more than the two corporate parties in this broken country.

My inability to vote for either one of these Republican-Lite Democrats all started with the corporate sell-out in the form of the Bankruptcy bill. My opposition to this give-away to the predatory credit card companies stems from the fact that I face an uncertain financial future with advanced prostate cancer. Most non-Sheeple know that our health care system is horribly broken and this corporate piece of legislation virtually makes it impossible for an individual facing enormous debt because of catastrophic medical bills to declare bankruptcy. Compassionate Conservatism at its best.

What was really troubling for me personally was that when I attempted to get an answer from Kind's office, or Kohl's office, I was treated with indifference and in Kind's case almost disdain. I made a number of calls to both Kind's Washington and La Crosse office, and I could not get anyone to answer a very simple question - "Why did Kind vote for this piece of legislation." I wasn't expecting for Kind to personally call me, and at a minimum I would have been somewhat satisfied if I would have just got one of those typical form letters. What is further troubling to me is that neither Kind nor Khol has had the "balls" to take a tough, realistic, and appropriate stance to the Bush folly that is Iraq. Both are slick/safe politicians, always playing down the middle, straddling the fence. I'm sorry but I cannot in good conscience award either one of them with one of my most prized possessions - my VOTE. I know, I'm just one lone voter but Kind and Kohl need to wake up!

I'm a college professor - yea I'm Liberal (I think in terms beyond either/or, black/white, good/evil, etc, you get the point). So I'm in the Student Union today and I go into the bathroom and there sitting on either side of the bathroom counter is a poster - sorry I can't tell you exactly what it said, because my disbelief got the best of me and after briefly reading a few points on the posters (strictly Sheeple Talking Points) I tore them up and buried them in the trash. After awhile I was curious so I went back in and pulled a few parts out of the trash. To the best of my memory I think the poster's headline read something like -- "Weapon’s don't kill people evil dictator's kill people (never mind the absolute illogic of that statement). Below is the usual Sheeple clap trap minus the context or facts, "In 1983 Saddam kills 8,000 in campaign against Kurdish . . . buried in mass graves. Hey you dolts, how about the fact that Saddam killed them with the Reagan Administration’s blessing and with gas that we provided. The poster closes with this little ditty “Saddam is the WMD” - get it. Wow, we did find WMD's after all - it was Saddam, Rumsfeld's old pal.

With my head about ready to explode I wanted to know where this lovely little poster came from. I can just picture the grinning dim-witted sheeple that left this in the bathroom - you get the picture. Lo and behold it comes from one of those RW Sheeple Think Tanks with a Patriotic sounding title YOUNG AMERICAN'S FOUNDATION. So against my better judgment I took a little Internet stroll over there and guess what I saw? Lots of American flags, images of Ronnie Reagan, carbon-copy looking young Sean Hannity wantabe sheeple. And then I clicked on their store and perused for a moment, when I clicked on the poster link, right there at the top was this picture of that Hate-Spewing Stick Bitch Ann Colter, if you dare click on it it will get bigger. They have, however, carefully hidden her enourmous Adams Apple under her bleached blonde hair.

The best part is how this lovely little poster was titled: “Ann Coulter Poster - Hot! The Beauty of Conservatism” - all for only $4.87. If that is the best Conservatives have to offer, no wonder so many of them are gay and hiding in the closet. If you go to the poster page and scroll down, at the very bottom you can get a FREE poster of the president, what does that tell you about his popularity? And it tell you to hand it in your dorm room and salute our/their Deal Leader. More on my brief journey into this little sheeple website coming in the next few days.

In the nick of time Parade magazine is there to remind the Sheeple that there are 13.5 million just as stupid as they are. Plus, they begin with their little dig at Air America Radio. Two more things: First, the photo that Parade choose to use of Rush is (if there is such a thing) a good one. I mean why didn't they use a shot of him waving himself and his arms around mocking FOX, with his ever present phallic-symbol Cigar in hand? [Sorry the photo was not online with the article] Secondly, the figures they quote fail to take into account listenership via the Internet which in the case of dreaded Liberal radio programs is quite LARGE! This just confirms what I've already known - Parade Magazine is just a right-wing rag!

Two things about the whole Cheney incident are very revealing to me, and get right at the heart of Cheney's true character and sick, degraded personality.

First, what kind of person goes on a "canned-hunt"??? A sick, sadistic, no-regard for life kind of person who gets his jollies from killing innocent little animals. Where is the SPORT in a canned hunt? Driving around in a pick-up truck, stopping, walking a short distance and blowing away farm-raised and defensless little birds that you are never going to eat? Don't forget Cheney's history of canned-hunts.

THE INCREASINGLY low-profile V.P. was taken to Pittsburgh by Air Force Two earlier this week where his “security detail loaded him and his favorite shotgun into a Humvee,” and went to Rolling Rock Club in Ligonier Township, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. There, he and nine other hunting buddies shot at 500 ringneck pheasants, killing 417 of them. The V.P. was credited with offing 70 of the birds, as well as an unknown number of mallard ducks.

The second thing that is very revealing about Cheney in all of this is the fact that after the shooting he doesn't go to the hospital to be with his friend after he shoots him he goes back to the ranch and eats dinner. WTF? There are only two things that one can conclude from this. First, Cheney had something to hide (hitting the sauce), or second, he is just a real uncaring prick. Well I guess you could conclude that both of those are true!

Mike Malloy - Howard Beale!

Last night's Mike Malloy radio show on Air America Radio was the most amazing, angry, gut-wrenching, eye-opening, truth-telling, piece of radio/public discourse I have ever heard. Mike, night in and night out reminds me of the film character Howard Beale in Network. He is "mad as hell and he isn't going to take it anymore!" We need hundreds of Mikes in the media and politics. Who will be the first high profile politician to be like Mike and Howard? The mayor of New Orleans did a good job last night, keep it coming.

Mike speaks the hard truths and realities of our troubled times and quickly crumbling nation - it isn't pretty but it is right on target. Mike calls a spade a spade, he calls the Bush bunch what they are "The Bush Crime Family," or the BFEE - the Bush Family Evil Empire. Last night he was right on when he called out all of the whores in the media who have been on their knees for five years as mouthpieces to the BFEE. Rather than report on real and important stories we have missing White women 24-7. If anything good can come out of this disaster it is that hopefully we will get back some semblance of an objetive media in this country [minus the whores at FOX]. Mike called them hypocrites because NOW they are finally waking from their slumbers and FINALLY reporting some troubling facts and being critical of the BFEE. Karl Rove and his ilk have lost control of the strings and if there is any justice they will never get control again. Last nights Mike Malloy show should be required listening for all Americans, especially the brain-dead, phony patriot Sheepole, driving around with the flags waving and the magnetic ribbons. It's time for Americans to take real action, and make real sacrifices. The Bubble Boy pResident won't ask for the rich, or his cronies, or the big Oil Companies to make sacrifices, the word "sacrifice" isn't in his vocabulary. A time for action, not aloofness

AS THE EXTENT of Hurricane Katrina’s devastation became clearer on Tuesday — millions without power, tens of thousands homeless, a death toll unknowable because rescue crews can’t reach some regions — President Bush carried on with his plans to speak in San Diego, as if nothing important had happened the day before.

Katrina already is measured as one of the worst storms in American history. And yet, President Bush decided that his plans to commemorate the 60th anniversary of VJ Day with a speech were more pressing than responding to the carnage.

A better leader [can you say Bill Clinton] would have flown straight to the disaster zone and announced the immediate mobilization of every available resource to rescue the stranded, find and bury the dead, and keep the survivors fed, clothed, sheltered and free of disease.

The cool, confident, intuitive leadership Bush exhibited in his first term, particularly in the months immediately following Sept. 11, 2001, has vanished. In its place is a diffident detachment unsuitable for the leader of a nation facing war, natural disaster and economic uncertainty.

Wherever the old George W. Bush went, we sure wish we had him back.

I'm not sure about that last part - the old George W. Bush attacked the wrong country, wasting untold Billions to create a Islamic theocracy that is only creating terrorists faster than he can kill them. The old or current George W. President Bush announced Tuesday that he would cut short his extended summer vacation and fly to Washington to begin work on Wednesday with a task force that will coordinate the work of 14 federal agencies involved in the relief effort. from the New York Times today

"To begin work on Wednesday." Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the hurricane occur on Monday, why didn't he begin work on say Sunday before the hurricane hit? The problem as I see it is that our attention and resources are focused on the Bubble Boy pResident's . . . I break for a Sheepole explanation . . .

Where was the President yesterday and today?

There is something wrong with this picture.

Hurricane Katrina is now being called one of the worst, if not the worst, disaster in US history. Instead of focusing on this growing tragedy in the southeast, you are at this moment giving a speech in California about World War II and Iraq. Yes, you devoted one minute of that speech to the hurricane, but now it's been 20 minutes and you are still talking about WWII and Iraq.

Mr. President, the entire nation is focused on one issue today, and it is not WWII. We are fixated by the images we're seeing on TV. The images of uncontrollable fires blazing across New Orleans. The images of people stranded on their rooftops waving white t-shirts for help. And as I write this, the water levels are still rising in New Orleans and the situation is getting desperate.

As I watched the devastation last night I wondered why there was little or no mention in the media coverage of where the pResident was. Correct me if I'm wrong but at times of great crisis and disaster isn't one of the President's jobs to be the symbolic leader to speak to the nation and reassure them that everything that is humanly possible is being done. Think back to another time of great crisis and devastation - 9/11 - what did the boy pResident do that day? He ran like a scarred bunny rabbit across the country only to resurface the next day. I have to think that he has smart political advisors who told him to cut his vacation short and return to Washington ASAP. I have to wonder if Bush overrode his advisors and told them “f-you I’m not cutting my vacation short.” So, what did Bush do yesterday, he was all smiles as he ate birthday cake and celebrated with Senator McCain, and spoke about prescription drugs - all while a million plus people suffered. Last night he continued his vacation at a five-star resort in San Diego, while a million people suffered death and life shattering pain in the Gulf region - any irony here? Today, he is back at his stump speaking, beating the dead horse that is the illegal war in Iraq, now he is comparing it to WWII. Has anyone told this out of touch, spoiled, insensitive, little little tiny pathetic excuse of a man that his poll number are falling faster than the winds of Hurricane Katrina were spinning yesterday? Does he even give a flying f? You can bet that in a few days when it safe for him to go to the South, when he won’t get his feet wet or dirty, for his photo-op the media will be fawning all over him, and gushing, about how strong and resolute of a leader he is in a time of great crisis. Why weren’t they mentioning where he was last night when his country needed him? Just when I think that my opinion and respect for the boy pResident Bush can’t go any lower he continues to amaze me. When will the remaining 30% of the brain dead Sheepole wake up and see him for what he is worth.

Gone for a week. I won't be blogging for a week as I am of to Idaho my former home state to celebrate/mourn my 50th birthday. Going to Idaho makes me feel dirty as I see our pathetic little man of a pResident will be escaping from his phony prop of a ranch and Cindy Sheehan to makes his first trip to Idaho. In the meantime I leave you with a short, sad, ignorant, disconected from reality comment about Cindy Sheehan from the vulgar Pig Boy - the drug infested Rush Limbaugh - the depths of depravity that this right wing blow hole has sunk to is startling even for some one who has been spouting his hate for so long:

CINDY SHEEHAN - TRUE AMERICAN HERO

Why haven’t I blogged for over a week? Believe me I have tried several times to put my feeling about Cindy Sheehan a true American Hero into words, but every time I try all that comes out is an incoherent ramble. The problem being that I am overcome by my anger and disgust for pResident Bush. Then on Friday this occurred:

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President George W. Bush got his first look at an anti-war vigil near his ranch on Friday as his motorcade took him by the protest site lined with small white crosses representing fallen American soldiers in Iraq. When Bush's black sport utility vehicle carried him past the site to a Republican fund-raiser, the protest leader, Cindy Sheehan, whose son was one of the nearly 1,850 U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq, held up a sign that said: "Why do you make time for donors and not for me?"

I was rendered speechless, Sheehan sign said it all. This tiny tiny miserable little man can’t even muster up the courage to face one woman who opposes his illegal war. Why? Because he isn’t comfortable dealing with those opposed to him. All of Bush’s rallies and pResidential appearances are carefully choreographed and those opposed are screened out or even removed. Free Speech be dammed. Bush has truly become the bubble-boy pResident who has walled himself off in his Never Never Happy Land. Yet, Bush had the nerve to say this last week:

I sympathize with Mrs. Sheehan. She feels strongly about her -- about her position. And I am -- she has every right in the world to say what she believes. This is America. She has a right to her position.

How could this tiny miserable little man say that with a straight face? Bush doesn’t believe in free speech or the expression of opposing ideas, if he did he would open the doors to his rallies and appearances. I went to three Kerry and Edwards rallies during the campaign, no one was screened out or removed even when they shouted or disrupted. There you are Sheepole, that is the difference between us and you, we believe in the Constitution and the rights of Free Speech, and the expression of opposing ideas - apparently you Sheepole don’t.

So continuing on WHY can’t Bush face one woman opposed to him? Because he probably wouldn’t be able to have his 3x5 cards with his supplied talking points, or that little black box with his ear piece telling him what to say. But most important of all he can’t answer the one question that Sheehan wants to ask: “For what noble cause did my son die?” His canned talking points: 9-11, WMD’s, mushroom clouds, Saddam was a brutal dictator, freeing the Iraqis, freedom is on the march, blah, blah, blah would all ring hollow and false for Sheehan. I have to believe that his brain (Karl Rove) has told him to go speak to Sheehan and make this circus of bad press go away. But, Bush probably threw a tantrum, and said no. Remember Bush has never admitted a mistake in his life. After all he was born on third base, thinking all the while he hit a triple. When ever he failed someone was there to pick up the pieces and bail him out, most notably in his business dealings. Bush has always gotten his way, he is a spoiled, psychopathic, megalomaniac, so why should he change now.

So Bush continues to hide in his phony movie set of a ranch, pretending to be a cowboy, a common man of the people - Bullshit. By the way why is it called a ranch, there isn’t any ranching going on, it is a 10,000 square foot luxury home. Bush has plenty of time for bike rides, million dollar fund raisers, naps, fishing, probably some Gameboy and who knows what but not 10 minuets for a woman who lost her only son in a war that Bush started for oil and corporate profits. I know what you Sheepole are saying - “A war for Oil - ridiculous, loony left wing talk.” But trust me if it were kumquats under the Iraqi sand we sure as hell won’t be there fighting a war now would we. Then yesterday Bush said this in reference to the Sheehan request for a meeting,

I think it's also important for me to go on with my life...

Easy for him to say, he isn’t about to loose a child in his war. Good God, does this ever reveal this miserable little man's true character! I guess maybe if the truth were known, he really wanted to tell Cindy Sheehan to “get on with your life and leave me alone.” Oh, and if this is such a noble cause, why aren’t Bush’s two unemployed daughters over there supporting the cause? Oh, wait they are the elite, the aristocrats, the chosen, the top 1%, wars are fought by the poor and the minorities, how stupid of me.

So as Bush’s poll rating continue to plummet what will it take for the 30% or so of you Sheepole to see Bush for what he is, a tiny, spineless, miserable little man who is in why over his head - a miserable failure on so many levels. Hey, Sheepole here is an interesting little tid-bit for you, on the day Clinton was impeached his approval rating was about 65%, what is your boy Bush’s approval rating now - low 40’s. For God sakes even Richard Nixon went out late one night to the Lincoln Memorial to talk to war protestors. Yet, all you Sheepole can do is to attack a woman who lost her only son, to shot a rife into the air, or to cowardly run over the crosses and flags erected as a memorial to the fallen soldiers. Or, to be led down from Dallas by talk radio host and FOX News commentator Mike Gallagher, and spend all of about thirty minutes chanting “We don’t care,” before turning tail to head back to your TV sets tuned to FOX news to sit on you fat asses - now that is passion and commitment. Gallagher who never served in the military, but likes to play dress up in military uniform on his web site, and Gallagher who has four able bodied young sons, who guess what, have never served in the military.

What exactly do you care about? Oh I know you care about God, Guns and Gays. Good God what has become of this once great country, and remind me just who are the True Patriotic Americans?

Kudos to Paul Hackett. Hackett loses 48-52 to a shrill Bush apologist. He didn't win but he sent a message to the Repubs about 2006, "Be very very scarred." Here is what Repub political strategist Charlie Cook said about the Ohio 2nd Congressional race prior to the election:

If Schmidt's victory margin is in double digits, this tells us that there is not much of an anti-GOP wind in Ohio right now. If the margin is say six to nine points for Schmidt, then there is a wind, but certainly no hurricane. A Schmidt win of less than five points should be a very serious warning sign for Ohio Republicans that something is very, very wrong, while a Hackett victory would be a devastating blow to the Ohio GOP.

Fox News: "Is it Time for Jimmy Carter to Just SHUT UP?!" Thanks to News Hounds. One of Sean Hannity's favorite right-wing cliches is that the left is "shrill and unhinged." I wonder if Sean will call his network mate Neil Cavuto on his shrill and unhinged rhetoric?

Neil Cavuto, who Fox touts as its head honcho business news guy, opened his "business" show (yeah, right) like this today (August 1, 2005):

Well, is Jimmy Carter's popping off about Gitmo while speaking abroad traitorous, and for our markets, potentially ruinous? Today, why a top Carter critic says he's gone from being nuts to now just dangerous."

Cavuto outlined some of the items he'd cover later in the show and then Fox played a video clip of former President Carter saying, "I think what's going on at Guantanamo Bay and in Abu Ghraib and other places is a disgrace to the United States of America."

Cavuto continued, "Is it time for Jimmy Carter to just shut up?! Today a look at comments he made abroad this weekend and why some say he's hurting our country's image and yes, maybe our country's stocks."

Of course "SHUT-UP" has become a new right-wing talking point. We'll be waiting Sean?

"Ridiculous" says Condi (the Oil Tanker Queen), the war in Iraq isn't creating more terrorists.

Condi when asked by Jim Lehhrer (PBS Thursday evening) this question: “What about the additional element here that, increasingly, terrorism experts and Muslim experts are saying that the combination of Iraq and other foreign policy decisions by the United States are actually creating more terrorists every day than they are eliminating them. Here are the some highlights of her simplistic, vague and avoding answer:

CONDOLEEZZA RICE: When we are going to stop making excuses for the terrorists? The terrorists on Sept. 11 attacked the United States. We weren't in Iraq. We weren't even in Afghanistan on Sept. 11. They have attacked in places that had no forces in either place. They've attacked all over the world. They've attacked in Morocco and in Bali and in Egypt and in London and in Madrid. When are we going to stop making excuses for the terrorists and saying that somebody is making them do it? No, these are simply evil people who want to kill. And they want to kill in the name of a perverted ideology that really is not Islam, but they somehow want to claim that mantle to say that this is about some kind of grievance. This isn't about some kind of grievance. This is an effort to destroy, rather than to build.

Wow, just how stupid and short sighted are the highlighted portions. The terrorists are simply evil people with no human motivations, case closed, in other words they are simply animals that need to be exterminated. Hey Condi, maybe, just maybe they do have greivances like the Bushie boy invading an Arab country that had NOTHING to do with 9-11. Gee, I don't know, but if you are going to defeat an enemy don't you want to understand their motivations? And until everybody in the world calls it by name -- the evil that it is -- stops making excuses for them, then I think we're going to have a problem. And I hope that after the bombings of innocent people in London, innocent people at Sharm el-Sheikh, innocent children in Iraq, that people will call this by name and stop making excuses for these people.No one is making them do it. They're doing it because they want to create chaos and to undermine our way to life.

No Condi, they couldn't give a shit about our way of life, what they give a shit about is our illegal intrusion and war; the forcing of our way of life upon their lives. I, along with other concerned Americans, flinch at the news stories from around the world concerning our bad image. However, what is the impression people get? Is it the sight of Americans giving life and limb so the Iraqi people can vote and have the freedoms we take for granted?

Hey Arvid, what about the 100,000 plus Iraqis who have given life and limb because of our illegal presence in their country. Prior to our invasion there were no car bombings, or suicide bombers in Iraq, boy I bet they are overjoyed to us for giving them American brand Democracy. Let me guess you still believe their were WMD’s in Iraq, Saddam was responsible for 9-11, and had ties to Al Qaeda?

I would think the real "ugly image" is the sight of pompous politicians who have used their millions for legal fees that have literally kept them out of prison for their own misdeeds. With the right lawyer, the most guilty can walk free and go on C-Span and lecture on how judges should rule and how our armies should be run.

Some of the newspapers, which included the Rhode Island daily the Providence Journal, called the remarks "potty humor," and edited the offending language from the strip before publication. Others simply went without.

Gosh I wished we had a Costco here where I live in Wisconsin! This excellent article in the New York Times, How Costco Became the Anti-Wal-Mart, subtly points out one of the most important difference between Republicans and Progressive Democrats.

The Walton family of Wal-Mart are big Republican donors, very vocal and active in the Republican campaign to overturn the Inheritance Tax, or as I prefer to call it “The Paris Hilton Tax cut.” The Waltons and Republicans are all about widening the gap between the rich and the poor, and protecting the very wealthy. But Progressives like Mr. Sinegal ask why can’t everyone have a piece of the pie, yet, the middle class to lower to middle class Sheepole keep voting against their own best interests? I for one will never again shop at Wal-Mart, sure they have great prices, but at the expense of the workers, just so the rich can get richer. Friends, I have great news! Rick Santorum, America's senator, has written a book. I've waited years for this man's sage words to be put to paper. Now, the teachings of Rick Santorum can be passed down throughout the ages. My great grandson will now one day be able to read about of the horrors of homosexuals destroying families and radical feminists forcing mothers into the workplace.

The title of his new groundbreaking book is "It Takes a Family" which is a clever play on the title of that uppity Hillary Clinton's book "It Takes a Village." We had to wait nearly a decade for an answer to her idiotic proposition that a child is raised not just by a family, but also by teachers, community members and religious leders. His literary retort was well worth the wait.

There are a few portions of this book I especially liked, including:

The notion that college education is a cost-effective way to help poor, low-skill, unmarried mothers with high school diplomas or GEDs move up the economic ladder is just wrong.

I've always been firmly against educating unwed mothers. This only rewards them for their disgusting behavior. We certainly have no moral obligation to help an unchaste woman work her way out of a difficult financial situation. No, indeed our responsibility is to firmly say to her: "You've made your bed, now you must lie in it." We also have a further responsibility to make this bed as uncomfortable as possible to worsen the punishment inflicted upon this godless harlot.

Another of my favorite parts is this:

Many women have told me, and surveys have shown, that they find it easier, more “professionally” gratifying, and certainly more socially affirming, to work outside the home than to give up their careers to take care of their children. Think about that for a moment…Here, we can thank the influence of radical feminism, one of the core philosophies of the village elders.

I couldn't have said it better myself, senator, although I probably would have replaced the phrase "village elders" with "godless liberals." If women were truly meant to have careers outside of the home then God would not have outfitted them with inferior brains. Women working outside the home runs directly counter to God's plan and I applaud Rick for taking such a principled stand on this.

This book has truly inspired me, and he's right, it does take a family alone to raise a child. Who better to teach my kids than their parents? Both my boys will be home schooled next year. And who better, I ask, to teach them about Christ than their father? My children will observe the Sabbath in the Church of Michael Gregory Steele from now on. My children will be protected in my warm bosom from the dangers of atheists, liberals, and homosexuals.

Thank you, senator Santorum, thank you. I guess that sometimes it takes a senator named Santorum to show you the light.

Now Afghanistan is festering again because Bush took is eye off the ball.

And it was against an enemy who hides in caves and won't identify themselves with a uniform. The war is against not only them but any nation who harbors them.

Hey Paul where were the recent London bombers living - in a cave? By your logic, since they were living in London (Britain must be harboring them) we should attack Britain while we are at it!? Oh, and by your logic how many countries are harboring terrorists, ten, twenty, fifty, so we should attack them all. And how about the timing, I regretfully came across El Drugbo (Rush) for a moment today, and he said that it was absurd that there was any political timing in this announcement. WHAT! Are you kidding me, this is all about shifting the focus away from Rove, especially coming out of the devastating bad news weekend the Bushies had. On top of the fact that the American public (minus the 30% or so that are Sheepole) aren’t buying their disgusting talking points campaign of lies, diversion, and smears. In an ABC News poll, only 25% of Americans think that Bush is cooperating with the investigation. Oh, and Sheepole please remind me what is your glorious leader’s approval rating? Can you say 42% (and this was just before the Rove treason affair kicked into gear), for gosh sakes, at the height of the drummed up Republican witch hunt impeachment Clinton’s approval ratings were in the 60’s! With the Bushies everything they do is about politics. Another Rove observation: People need to stop hiding behind Clintonian semantics here and understand that even if no actual technical violation of the law is found in the Rove/Plame case it will still be true, based on what we know now from the Time emails, that White House actions compromised a CIA asset during a time of war. What would Hannity, Limbaugh, Scarborough and all the cable loudmouths be saying if it had been Sidney Blumenthal? The president has said he would fire anyone who did such a thing. Ergo: the president must fire Rove or break his word. It's going to be an interesting few weeks.

My sentiment, but not my words, those words were spoken by Andrew Sullivan conservative blogger. Sullivan's question is a good one, can you imagine the coverage this story would have gotten if it had been in the Clinton administration. FAUX News would be wall-to-wall, the missing white girls would disappear television screens, Sean Hannity would be ready to explode, his finger-wagging out of control, and there are some who still say we have a liberal media?

One other observation: This investigation should not end with Rove, who else knew? In particular what did Bush know and when did he know it?

My question is (and it was asked on Monday - see below), Puffy McMoon Face Presidential Spokeshole, kept saying he couldn’t comment because it was an ongoing investigation, but back in September and October 2003 it was an ongoing investigation and he was more than willing to comment, so why all of a sudden has he zipped his mouth? Could it be because boy Rove has finally been caught? Here is the relevant exchange:

Do you think that the Justice Department can conduct an impartial investigation, considering the political ramifications of the CIA leak, and why wouldn't a special counsel be better?

BUSH:

Yes. Let me just say something about leaks in Washington. There are too many leaks of classified information in Washington. There's leaks at the executive branch; there's leaks in the legislative branch. There's just too many leaks. And if there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. And if the person has violated law, the person will be taken care of.

And so I welcome the investigation. I'm absolutely confident that the Justice Department will do a very good job. There's a special division of career Justice Department officials who are tasked with doing this kind of work; they have done this kind of work before in Washington this year. I have told our administration, people in my administration to be fully cooperative.

I want to know the truth. If anybody has got any information inside our administration or outside our administration, it would be helpful if they came forward with the information so we can find out whether or not these allegations are true and get on about the business.

My guess is that Bush will promote Rove or better yet give him the Medal of Freedom just like he did other past failures, most notably Paul Bremmer(remember him the US-led provisional authority leader in Iraq. The same Paul Bremmer who lost and could not account for 8.8 billion dollars of Iraqi money, yet Bush pins the Medal of Freedom on him. I’m still waiting for the Congressional investigation into that missing 8.8 billion. The Republicans can investigate a bad land deal where the principals lost money and a consensual blow-job spending something like $60 million but a missing 8.8 billion, ugh, who cares, no big deal, just look the other way Sheepole, and now Rove?!

In a recent letter to the editor Kim and Joe Meier of De Soto, Wisconsin used a typical sheepole letter to the editor technique - diahria of the keyboard. Could someone tell me what their argument is here? This is what I call the “throwing the kitchen sink” at what ever got them going in the first place argument. Hey, Sheepole, here is a tip for writing letters to the editor, before you get all fired up and start writing, what is your purpose, what is your argument, and stick to it? So here goes have a look for yourself:

Certainly nobody wants "the government" to have more data on us or our children for that matter. In fact, I'm in favor of a much smaller government playing a lesser role in our everyday lives, but back to reality.
The facts of the matter are these. The government does have all of our data as soon as we start paying taxes. So what's the difference if they get it a few years earlier?
Men are already required to register with the selective service within 30 days of their 18th birthday.
You might say, military recruiters will be calling my house. Chances are they are already calling.
Recruiters already have access to school lists and college lists if that school receives federal funding.
If the military can do its job without a draft, then let them do it. How hard is it for people to say "No thank you I'm not interested?" Not very hard.
We do not know anyone, or know anyone else who knows someone who has had their rights violated because of expanded government control since Sept. 11, 2001.
It's a bunch of hogwash, and we're tired of people trying to scare the American public.

Ok here comes their big attempt at trying to be cute and use an analogy, something that Sheepole should just not try:

Fact: The Wisconsin DOT reports in its 2004 fatality report that 836 people died on Wisconsin roads last year!
The Wisconsin Army National Guard lost two people in combat since the beginning of Iraq. In Wisconsin, 56 people were killed and listed as pedestrians!
Give us the truth and stop your media-biased spin. We have brains and we vote!

Anybody with a brain see a problem with that analogy?

In a recent letter, Kim and Joe Meier fail to prove their accusations of scare tactics, lies and spin in the media because they write in generalities and present no specific incidents. It is not the least bit clear who they are berating. Why would the media be threatened if they vote?
But there is rich irony in their spun statistics comparing deaths of Wisconsin soldiers in Iraq with traffic deaths in Wisconsin.
Only two Wisconsin Army National Guard deaths, they say, while there were 56 pedestrian deaths, with an exclamation point yet. Do they mean that our soldiers in Iraq are safer than our pedestrians in Wisconsin?
Actually, three deaths have occurred in the Guard, but citing only these and ignoring the other branches of service is like saying that we had 43 highway deaths in Chevys, ignoring the 865 total in all vehicles. The death toll for Wisconsin stands at present at 40, with the last being Spc. Charles Kaufman of Fairchild who died after a car bomb exploded near his Humvee in Baghdad on June 26.
After reading through this long list of deaths to get my total count, I fault the Meiers callous use of these deaths to argue their cause. These were real people from ordinary Wisconsin towns who bravely died horrendous deaths. We should be more respectful.

Why I opposed Bush from the beginning. We liberals are often accused of being nothing other than Bush haters, while I hesitate to use the word hate to describe my disdain for most everything that is Dubba, let me explain where my attitude towards Bush came from. Simply put it goes back to when he first began to run for President. The first thing I did was to examine his biography/background, and my conclusion was that he was not qualified to be President, he was not the best, or the brightest, there was nothing extraordinary about him, irregardless of his politics. Simply put, take away the Bush name and what do you have, a below ordinary individual with few if any accomplishments.

Let's try a little experiment and establish some common ground here. I would imagine that almost everyone would agree that our Presidents should come from the best and brightest of our citizens. Our Presidents have quite often been heroic and extraordinary individuals, who had done great things. Right? So here is the question, name for me one thing outstanding or extraordinary that George W. Bush did prior to becoming President? In answering this question please avoid the media created biography. I’m waiting . . . . . . I will follow up this post with a discussion of your comments and my take.

Fast Times with Bushie logic. How many reason have we had for going to war in Iraq so far? The latest [I talked about it earlier this week] “Bush’s great big pile of shit in Iraq” strategy, or as some are calling it the “Fly paper” strategy, you know the one about bringing the battle to the terrorists so we don’t have to fight them here. In either case the terrorists are like flies that we are luring into Iraq to kill them. If the London bombing proved anything it is that this strategy is badly flawed. Not all terrorists are falling for the trap, they are worldwide, and can strike anywhere. As I keep saying, the more terrorists that you kill the more you create. At the same time the Bushies are still telling us that they are turning Iraq in to a bastion of freedom and democracy, a shining example for the Middle East. So my question is how can you create a terrorist battleground, while at the same time having this glorious democratic Iraq, don’t the two fly in the face of each other? Of course they do, but as usual the Bushies are talking out of both sides of their mouths and the sheepole eat it up. This whole contradiction got me thinking of an analogy to one of my all time favorite movies “Fast Times At Ridgemont High,” staring that hated liberal Sean Penn. In the movie Sean Penn’s character Jeff Spicoli is recklessly driving football star Charles Jefferson’s car with Jefferson’s little brother, of course he wrecks it, and here is the ensuing dialogue:

Jefferson's Brother:

My brother's gonna kill us! He's gonna kill us! He's gonna kill you and he's gonna kill me, he's gonna kill us!

Jeff Spicoli:

Hey man, just be glad I had fast reflexes!

Jefferson's Brother:

My brother's gonna shit!

Jeff Spicoli:

Make up your mind, dude, is he gonna shit or is he gonna kill us?

Jefferson's Brother:

First he's gonna shit, then he's gonna kill us!

Jeff Spicoli:

Relax, alright? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

The analogy being, Spicoli represents thinking intelligent Americans [albiet not stoned like Spicoli], while Jefferson’s little brother represents a highly excited Bushie, Intelligent informed Americans are asking, “Hey dudes, Is it a terrorist battleground, or is it a shining Democracy” Oh, and by the way what about bin Laden, WMD’s, and all those other reasons, which is it? The reasons keep changing so fast that my head is spinning!

Sheepole herder Sean Hannity is always going on and on about the “shrill and unhinged” rhetoric of the left, hey Sean is this recent commentary from drug addled Rush Limbaugh the civil rhetoric the epitomizes the conservative right?

"I’m tired of these Democrats acting like they won the election I mean somebody needs to stand up and say when you win the election you pick the nominees, until then SHUT-UP [shouting emphasis added] JUST SHUT-UP, just go away and bury yourself in your rat holes and don’t come out until you win an election, when you win an election you can put all these socialist wackos like Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Steven Breyer all over the courts but until then shut up, you are really irritating me."

Wow Rush must still be weaning off the OxyContin or can’t find a dealer, he was so shrill and unhinged that he even lost his customary stuttering and stammering. I don’t even know where to begin with this sorry "shrill and unhinged" excuse of civil discourse, but here goes:

Hey Rush, let me begin with a civics lesson. The President doesn’t get to just appoint anyone he wants without the advise and consent of the Senate, ever hear of the democratic concept of checks and balances? Correct me if I’m wrong Rush but doesn’t the minority have a voice in such matters, oh I forgot we are now in a Right Wing Dictatorship. While we are on the subject of winning elections, I’m assuming from your rant that Bush won by a landslide, got a real mandate. WRONG, since when does 51% of the vote translate to a sweeping majority and a free-ride for judical mominations? As for the “socialist wacko” comment, I’m shocked, since when did the right-wing begin to resort to name-calling and sweeping generalizations?

Excuse me while I crawl back into my rat hole! In the meantime, I will be waiting for Sean Boy to condemn this example of shrill and unhinged rhetoric. Babbling Moron - "Screw the dead, lets get back to the Killing"
Fox News shows its true values. The horrific and senseless bombings in London yesterday caused FOX to be extremely candid in two very different ways. First, brain dead Brain Kilmeade [why is a guy with a background in sports allowed to be a news commentator?], one of the trio of babbling name-calling clowns on the Fox and Friends gabfest, saw the London bombing as a good thing:

And that was the first time since 9-11 when they should know, and they do know now, that terrorism should be Number 1. But it's important for them all to be together. I think that works to our advantage, in the Western world's advantage, for people to experience something like this together, just 500 miles from where the attacks have happened.

So in essence Kilmeade was saying screw the real purpose of the G8 Summit (world poverty and global warming) lets get back to what is really important, blowing up shit and killing the terrorists. From Kilmeade's line of thinking we should be grateful to the terrorists for slaughtering 50 plus innocent people because they refocused our attention to what really counts - the never-ending war on terror. Wake up Sheepole - Kilmeade wants you to be very very scared and forget about trivial stuff like world poverty and the environment - killing is what it's all about in Kilmeade's perverted world.

The other sick but honest view was expressed by Britt Hume, whose take was, oh well shit happens, maybe I can make some money off this tragedy:

I mean, my first thought when I heard -- just on a personal basis, when I heard there had been this attack and I saw the futures this morning, which were really in the tank, I thought, "Hmmm, time to buy."

One thing that this tragedy showed us was that in an unfolding tragedy when there is no script with talking points and these talking-heads let their mouths run their true values come shinning through.

New York Times part of the corporate conservative media (CCM)? In recent days several Sheepole said I was loony for claiming that the New York Times was turning conservative. One going as far as saying, “Obviously you're an extreme leftwing nut job who should be behind the bars of the Democratic Underground.”

I have one word for you Sheepole - Judith Miller. Judith Miller who claims to stand behind a basic tenant of journalistic ethics, protecting an unnamed source. In Miller’s case she is protecting a source (likely Karl Rove) who perpetrated the crime of treason by outing CIA agent Valerie Plame. Miller is not protecting an unnamed source who is traditionally a whistleblower, who reveals a crime. The same Judith Miller who was one of the Bushies big cheerleaders of fear and WMD’s in the run-up to this illegal war and quagmire we now find ourselves in. As Jack Shafer noted in Slate:

In the months running up to the war, Miller painted as grave a picture of Iraq's WMD potential as any U.S. intelligence agency, a take that often directly mirrored the Bush administration's view.

If Judith Miller belongs in jail for anything it is for her false and over the-top pre-war reporting, and being just another corporate conservative media mouthpiece for the Bushies.

What real Iraqi's are saying about Bush's recent speech, from the Iraqi blogger Riverbend, here is an excerpt:

Bush said:
“The troops here and across the world are fighting a global war on terror. The war reached our shores on September 11, 2001.”

Do people really still believe this? In spite of that fact that no WMD were found in Iraq, in spite of the fact that prior to the war, no American was ever killed in Iraq and now almost 2000 are dead on Iraqi soil? It’s difficult to comprehend that rational people, after all of this, still actually accept the claims of a link between 9/11 and Iraq. Or that they could actually believe Iraq is less of a threat today than it was in 2003.

We did not have Al-Qaeda in Iraq prior to the war. We didn’t know that sort of extremism. We didn’t have beheadings or the abduction of foreigners or religious intolerance. We actually pitied America and Americans when the Twin Towers went down and when news began leaking out about it being Muslim fundamentalists- possibly Arabs- we were outraged.

Now 9/11 is getting old. Now, 100,000+ Iraqi lives and 1700+ American lives later, it’s becoming difficult to summon up the same sort of sympathy as before. How does the death of 3,000 Americans and the fall of two towers somehow justify the horrors in Iraq when not one of the people involved with the attack was Iraqi?

Part II- Bush's great big pile of SHIT in Iraq strategy. Yesterday I laid out two questions related to this NEW, in a long list of ever changing reasons for the war in Iraq, the “terrorist shit trap in Iraq.” The two questions that come out of this strategy: are the terrorists as dumb as flies and why haven’t we been attacked since 9/11 under the Sheepole’s glorious leader Bush? First, are the terrorists that dumb as to be lured like flies to the great big pile of shit we have laid down upon Iraq to their slaughter and elimination? Sure some/many are coming in, but why would they? Because they know they can help the Iraqi insurgents (the larger number) cause enough havoc and death upon our soldiers so that they drive a wedge into the heart of this country, so that we continue stripping away freedoms in the name of this illegal war. But what the Sheepole seem to ignore is that the terrorists are well established through out the world, and they are growing stronger again in Afghanistan – remember Afghanistan Sheepole? We never finished the job there and we never captured bin Ladden when we should have! Remember bin Laden Sheepole? This great big pile of shit strategy assumes that we can kill All or a significant number of terrorists and insurgents is absurd and misguided. Here is the real key here, listen carefully Sheepole, THE MORE WE KILL THE MORE WE CREATE – violence begats violence. You can bet that in the Arab media only the death (especially of innocent civilians) and destruction is being shown, so those once moderate Arabs are now turning against us – exactly what bin Laden and the terrorists wanted in the first place. Bin Laden wanted a recruiting poster and we gave it to him by invading Iraq. Again, I hate to say it but bin Laden is playing Bush like a cheap violin.

So why haven’t we been attacked on our soil since 9/11? I think that even the Sheepole would agree that there are terrorists in this county, so they could easily strap on a suicide bomb and walk into a Wal Mart in Topeka – right? So why haven’t they? I hate to break it to you Sheepole but it isn’t because of your blind notion of Bush’s heroic leadership. Simply put it is because they don’t need to, they got what they wanted, by their one horrific act. Bush over reacted, yes Afghanistan was right, but by invading an Arab country unprovoked we have given the terrorists the recruiting poster and a war on Islam. bin Laden is out there somewhere laughing his ass off at Bush. After 9/11 we had all of the world behind us, the terrorists had everyone against them, now Bush has managed to reverse that in world opinon. They won’t strike as long as we continue this illegal folly because we now are the bad guys, we are the ones with the torture chambers, destroying lives, and killing innocent civilians, and the whole world is against us, that is except for the blind Sheepole. With that said, I'm not against this country or the troops, I'm against what Bush has done to this great nation.

Part I - Bush's great big pile of SHIT in Iraq strategy. New Reason for Bush’s illegal War in Iraq, just one of an ever cascading number of reasons. Remember way back when Bush’s folly was just beginning, it was all about WMD’s and mushroom clouds, then it was about liberating the Iraqi people, then it was about removing a brutal dictator, who gassed his own people (never mind Sheepole that we supplied the gas and gave Saddam our blessing). Now it seems that the current reason of the moment is that we are fighting them in Iraq so we don’t have to fight them in America, it’s popping up all over the place:

Dick “Prostitute Toe-Sucker” Morris – or as liberal talk-show host Stephanie Miller (give her a listen) calls him the “human bean-bag chair.” The Toe-Sucker recently laid out this absurd strategy in some FAUX News propaganda show.

Iraq has become an employment agency for terrorists, which is fine; I would rather fight them in Iraq than in New York any day. And what is basically happening is that all of the suicide bombers, the homicide bombers, the airplane hijackers that would be hitting us in the United States are buying tickets to Iraq and fighting us there. And if we can use Iraq as a method of luring in terrorists and defeating them there that’s great.

Ah, the create a great big pile of shit in Iraq and attract the flies (terrorists) strategy - brilliant - NOT. Correct me but didn’t we go into Afghanistan to close it as a breeding ground for terrorists? But, we didn’t finish the job there because we were in a hurry to go to Iraq and create a new breeding ground for terrorists, were is the logic in that plan?

Then in Bush’s recent address he alluded to this absurd strategy in one of his frequent shameless 9/11 references:

After September 11, I made a commitment to the American people: This Nation will not wait to be attacked again. We will take the fight to the enemy.

Wait I thought the enemy was bin Laden and al Qaeda and they weren’t in Iraq to start with but now they are there big time, and where is bin Laden – bin Forgotten?

I see it popping up in Letters to the Editor, the Sheepole have definitely been drinking the Kool-Aid, here is a recent such reference.

If they all were to return home, we would be fighting these battles on our own U.S. soil!

This fight them in Iraq so we don’t have to fight them in America strategy is also popping up all over the Right Wing Media Echo chamber. Sean Boy Hannity and the others have definitely got their talking points and like good little sheepole are repeating it slowly and clearly for the Sheepole.

Robert Scheer in today’s Los Angeles Times has picked up on this new excuse for the war in Iraq when he writes:

The "war on terror" is turning out to be nothing more than a recycled formulation of the dangerously dumb "domino theory." Listen to the way President Bush justifies the deepening quagmire of Iraq: "Defeat them abroad before they attack us at home." If we didn't defeat communism in Vietnam, or even tiny Grenada, went the hoary defense of bloody proxy wars and covert brutality in the latter stages of the Cold War, San Diego might be the next to go Red.

At the heart of this absurd strategy is the argument that Bush has kept us safe because we are fighting them there instead of here in America. The Sheepole love to repeat over and over, “we haven’t been attacked since 9/11 on Bush’s watch.” What the Sheepole conveniently and blindly forget is we WERE ATTACKED on Bush’s watch. Hey Sheepole Bush was President on 9/11 not Clinton, Clinton warned the Bushies but Bush went on Vacation, even after the 8/6 CIA briefing, and just what was the title of that briefing Sheepole? Let me refresh your short-short Sheepole attention spans: “bin Laden intent to strike inside the United States.”

Why haven’t we been struck since 9/11? Has the great Sheepole leader Bush truly protected us? I would argue that the answer is a resounding NO, we haven’t been struck on our soil because Bush is doing exactly what bin Laden and the terrorists want. bin Laden is playing Bush like a cheap violin. Also, are the terrorists as dumb as flies attracted to shit? I'll explain both tomorrow in Part II.

Let me introduce a regular feature, the sheepole speak letter to the editor smack down. Every morning the first page I turn to in my newspaper (or online) is the Opinion page. For on the Opinion page you often find sheepole logic in all of its illogical and simplistic glory in the form of letters to the editor. Whenever I find a good one I will take it apart with the tools of logic and facts, something that the Sheepole are lacking in. If you find one in your local paper that is deserving of a smackdown, send it my way. So here goes, our first one comes from my birthplace Pocatello, Idaho about as Red of a place as you can find.

Re: Congressional Decisions, June 25, 2005.
The first question that comes to mind is this: Is it for attitudes such as yours - attitudes of disrespect towards our country, our flag that represents our country, our democracy and the freedoms we have fought for, won and continue to enjoy, the reason my boys are fighting for and serving to protect?

Why is it that if anyone questions our government, it is “disrespect towards our country?” Sheepole always question their opponent’s patriotism, but I have news for you Ms. Thompson blind faith in bad leadership is not patriotism. Your boys are not fighting to protect anything (well maybe the oil and corporate profits), Iraq was not a threat to us.

Because if so, I'd like them to return home! I'd rather enjoy daily life with my boys.

I would like them to return home too, but sooner than you would and alive!

I'd rather watch their kids' faces light up when they return from a hard day's work, rather than seeing their dad - at best - a few times a year because they are serving in the United States military!
I'd like their wives to have the satisfaction of living the American dream of a "normal," happy family.
I'd rather celebrate Christmases, Easters, birthdays and holidays with my family all together, rather than have them separated, fighting for such an "unthankful" cause!
No - wait! If they all were to return home, we would be fighting these battles on our own U.S. soil!

This is the cliché Sheepole argument. Let me see if I can get this straight. If they come home before they kill all of the terrorists (an impossibility) vast hordes of Arab terrorists will invade America? Hand-to-hand combat in the streets of Pocatello. Wow what delusional thinking!

Without these freedoms we daily enjoy, represented by the United States flag, there will be no "better-educated people," no option of dealing with "bird flu" nor the choice of what our kids will use for energy.

Oh, you mean those freedoms that are being stripped away by the Patriot Act in the name of this phony war? “Bird-flu, WTF, let me see if I can lay out your logic. Here goes, if we don’t kill all the terrorists, we won’t have freedoms, thus, we won’t have educated people so many will die from the “bird-flu?” Did I get that straight? Do you see how stupid that sounds!

Our country as we know it will cease to exist. What a nice "Welcome Home Soldiers! Thank you for all you're doing!" message to all the soldiers who honor and serve our country and the flag representing our treasured freedoms!

Ah, always back to the flag, for the sheepole, I bet she has three or four of those magnetic ribbons on her car! Again, those freedoms are disappearing lady, which is exactly what the terrorists want! I hate to break it to you Jean but the terrorists are winning.

If you don't like our flag and what it stands for, there are many other countries who feel the same as you do, who would welcome your citizenship and patriotism to their country with open arms.

Ah, the “why don’t you move to Canada, you commie” retort, very big of you. I'm surprised she doesn't work in gays somehow. I like the flag just fine, but I expect greater things of this country Ms. Thompson

Great moments in improbable conservative causation!
Senator “Man on Beast” parades out the fallacy of false cause. As a Catholic this offends me on so many levels, but mostly in its total reliance on simplistic black and white conservative thinking (a bedrock of conservative thought). As Mario Cuomo so aptly put it once: “We [liberals] write with fine-quill pens, while conservatives write with crayons."
Sen. Santorum says priestly pedophilia is rooted in culture of academic liberalism ...

It is startling that those in the media and academia appear most disturbed by this aberrant behavior, since they have zealously promoted moral relativism by sanctioning "private" moral matters such as alternative lifestyles. Priests, like all of us, are affected by culture. When the culture is sick, every element in it becomes infected. While it is no excuse for this scandal, it is no surprise that Boston, a seat of academic, political and cultural liberalism in America, lies at the center of the storm.

We continued our efforts to help them rebuild their country.

As Iraqis make progress toward a free society, the effects are being felt beyond Iraq’s borders.

Our mission in Iraq is clear. We are hunting down the terrorists.

[Let me see if I can summarize boy Georgie’s military strategy for all you sheepole. We lure all the terrorists into Iraq and kill them all, case closed, war on terror won. However, I would venture to guess that for every terrorist killed we create many, many more.

And we fight today because terrorists want to attack our country and kill our citizens – and Iraq is where they are making their stand. So we will fight them there … we will fight them across the world – and we will stay in the fight until the fight is won.

But Georgie, back in August of 2004 you said that the war on terror was unwinable: When asked “Can we win?” the war on terror, Bush said, “I don’t think you can win it. But I think you can create conditions so that the — those who use terror as a tool are — less acceptable in parts of the world.”

I tried but I just couldn't bring myself to watch. However, I did try to watch the Media Whores fawn all over the Bush boy. The worst was MSNBC were the bow-tie boy (quickly failing talk show host - Tucker Carlson) made some pretty amazing observations/lies, and I'm paraphrasing here. . . "Everyone knows this is a noble cause," [nice sweeping generalization], "we're not there for the oil, or to build military bases, or for imperialism." Say what - WTF. How can bow-tie boy repeat such crap with a straight face. I'm sure he is well aware of the permanent military bases (as in plural) we are currently building, the untold billions we are spending to build a new embassy in Baghdad, yet the bow-tie BOY claims just the opposite. He knows we have no interntion of ever leaving Iraq and that we are establishing a permanent presence. But, he knows the sheepole don't read and don't pay attention to the news unless it is about the Runaway Bride, or Michael Jackson, or the missing girl in Aruba, so he lies and the sheepole eat it up hook, line and sinker.

One other quick observation, I would bet anyone that the Bushies are polling their asses off as I write this. But, they tell the sheepole that the don't follow or pay attention to polls - right sheepole?

The ABC News/Washington Post poll came on the eve of a key speech in which Bush will seek public support for the war, which 53 percent of Americans who were surveyed said was not worth fighting.

A record 57 percent say the Bush administration "intentionally exaggerated its evidence that pre-war Iraq possessed nuclear, chemical or biological weapons," according to the poll.

So given this headline what will Bush boy have to say tonight? Look for Bush with Boy Rove’s talking points to ratchet up the terror alert, they have to pull something new and big out of their hat to scare the sheepole back into their fear induced stupor.

Another question, will Bush break out his ridiculous photo-opp Commander-in-Chief jacket for the occasion? If this is such an important speech, why isn’t Bunnypants using a more traditional and respectful backdrop, the oval office, with a suit and tie? Because he just loves to play dress up and parade around with soldiers, trying to look tough because anybody with a brain knows that he is a megalomaniac, a little spineless man with serious issues. What he couldn't find an Aircraft carrier?

Ah, Rummy speaks again, priceless!

Herr Rumsfeld speaking on NBC’s Meet The Press began by saying “wars are tough things." No shit! Hey I have an idea, don't start them for no apparent reason and then they won't be so tough. Hey Rummy what are they "tough things," or "hard work" can't you idiots make up your minds. I wonder how many times the Boy Monkey will say one or the other in his staged photo op, shamelessly using the U.S. Military on Tuesday night, any bets? Oh, and I can't wait to see that cool jacket he always wears when he plays dress up.

Herr Rummy went on to say . . "We're not going to win against the insurgency. The Iraqi people are going to win against the insurgency." Then why don't we just f-ing leave now?

"That insurgency could go on for any number of years. Insurgencies tend to go on five, six, eight, 10, 12 years." What Rummy has done some research and found that there has never been a case of an insurgency that lasted one to four years, or seven years, or nine years, or longer than 12 years? I thought you people didn't deal in logic or anything but black and white. Its interesting to note that the 12 year quote only appeared in his first Sunday appearance, a little slip of Rummy speak? Somebody got to him between appearances and told him to zip-it with that insight.

Back in Time. On Feb. 7, 2002 here is what Rummy said "It is unknowable how long that conflict will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months." But now we are talking 12 years or longer?

Oh and the revelation that we are now negotiating with the insurgents! I thought we didn't negotiate with terrorists? Must be a semantic difference insurgents/terrorists just like enemy combatants/prisoners of war, its all in how you label it! And they had a cow over Clinton and the meaning of "is!"

Young Republicans support Iraq war, but not all are willing to join the fight

NEW YORK - Young Republicans gathered here for their party's national convention are united in applauding the war in Iraq, supporting the U.S. troops there and calling the U.S. mission a noble cause.

But there's no such unanimity when they're asked a more personal question: Would you be willing to put on the uniform and go to fight in Iraq?

In more than a dozen interviews, Republicans in their teens and 20s offered a range of answers. Some have friends in the military in Iraq and are considering enlisting; others said they can better support the war by working politically in the United States; and still others said they think the military doesn't need them because the U.S. presence in Iraq is sufficient.

"Frankly, I want to be a politician. I'd like to survive to see that," said Vivian Lee, 17, a war supporter visiting the convention from Los Angeles,

Lee said she supports the war but would volunteer only if the United States faced a dire troop shortage or "if there's another Sept. 11."

"As long as there's a steady stream of volunteers, I don't see why I necessarily should volunteer," said Lee, who has a cousin deployed in the Middle East.

Vivian Lee -- remember that name, I hope when and if she tries to launch her political career these quotes come back to bite her lazy chickenhawk ass. My favorite line "she supports the war but would volunteer only if the United States faced a dire troop shortage." I guess she has been getting her news from FAUX News, otherwise she would have heard of the military's shortage of recruits. Maybe somebody should inform her I'm sure she would jump at the chance to sign up and defend her country, just like those FIVE unfortunate young women who died in Iraq yesterday.

Now that Congress has finally finally passed the flag burning amendment all our problems are solved! Just one question just how many flag burning incidents are there each year?

First things first. I must give credit to Marc Maron one of the hosts of Air America’s Morning Sedition for coining the term “sheepole” at least that is were I first heard it – sheepole speaks volumes for the current state of the conservative movement in America, fueled by fear and phony patriotism.

Second I am a LIBERAL and damm proud of it – so screw you Rush Limbaugh (Big Fat Dumb Liar and drug addled stutterer) and others for demonizing the term. We need to take back its true meaning; the best expression I ever heard was JFK’s expression of what it means to be a liberal.

What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?" If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then the record of this party and its members demonstrate that we are not that kind of "Liberal." But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

However, liberals have cowered away from the true meaning of liberalism, hardly any politician today calls themselves a liberal. Why not there is much to be proud of in the past. As Ron Silver’s character (R – in real-life and Bush War apologist) on the West Wing so aptly put it:

I am also very proud to be a liberal. Why is that so terrible these days? The liberals were liberators -- they fought slavery, fought for women to have the right to vote, fought against Hitler, Stalin, fought to end segregation, fought to end apartheid. Some have gone as far as moving away from the liberal label and using "progressive" instead - why? Why let the right wing make us change our language, it should be the other way around. Its time we liberals stood up and fought back, and speak up and explain to the sheepole all the good things that liberalism has done for this country. These quotes above are a good starting point.
